The Livery

Taken at Boyd’s Sanatarium, Dripping Springs, NM. Shot with a Canon 60D and a Tamron 10-24 at 10mm.

Taken at the Farmers Market in Las Cruces, NM February 11th, 2012

Probably the last image shot with my Canon 20D. I have a 60D on order.

From mid last year in El Paso, Texas.

For some reason this shot reminds me of the Stephen Gammel artwork from Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, by Alvin Schwartz:

Any how, I was having issues with lighting, any settings I tried, I would still get blur. So I decided, maybe blur is a good thing. I believe this was a shutter speed of 2 seconds, ISO 1600, f/2.8. I knew I wanted to process this black and white, and I wanted to rough it up a bit and make it look as if there was some some light bleeding on an exposure.

The shot is from a dance event at Mikey’s Place. This happened to be a group of tap dancers.

What I learned from this outing was that not everything has to be crisp and clean; a little blur, ok a lot in this case, can say a lot about what you are trying to show in your photo.
